What a great way to renew my vitality! On my recent trip to Colombia, South America, a group of us decided to go for a day of refreshment. Our visit to the area of Machetá in the mountains north of the capital city of Bogotá was very warm and soothing!
Volcanes is the name for the facility that has four hot spring pools. This water is rich in minerals and is very warm. The scenery is lush green with trees, plants and mountains that paint a portrait of nature at it’s best. For three hours, I alternated between dips in the hot springs, very cold mountain-water showers, rest by the pool-side and cool drinking water or fresh squeezed fruit juices. The facility offers accommodations (pictured in blog entry as Volcanes Hot Springs in Colombia), a home-made restaurant with regional food and spa amenities such as relaxation massage.
I met a young American man who has been living in Bogotá for 7 years with his family. He had gone to the hot springs with his 2 year-old daughter and his mom, who was visiting from the U.S. They had taken public transportation, the Transmilenio (a bus system) until the end of the line and then a small bus that dropped them off in front of the Volcanes facility. These folks were planning to stay at this paradise for 2 nights. They were getting recharged as they had plenty of opportunities to dip into the hot and cold springs.
I invite you to take time to rest and recharge your body! You may not be able to go to this delightful and exotic location like I just recently did, but you can go to a park, beach, mountain or lake and breath fresh, life-adding air. Your body will say “thanks for taking care of me” when you invest in your well-being.
