The fruit of planting is beautiful! During one of my visits to Colombia, South America I contemplated the importance of laying down seed. I saw an organic garden that a couple planted in their farm north of the capital city of Bogotá. It is marvellous to witness the preparation, planting and fertilization of the soil that later produces foods that benefit the human body.
In this writing I am thinking of three types of seeds that produce a different type of fruit and enrich your life. The first is love. The second is material resources. The third is seed that turns into food that can be eaten.
It is true that the first two types of seeds, love and material resources are not part of agriculture. They are part of the wisdom and blessings that you receive each day. When you share love from your heart, you generally reap love and satisfaction. When you share your material resources, you give from your abundance. Those who receive your gifts are thankful and in many cases, in need of the very blessings you share.
In 1999 my husband and I met two couples that have been “planting” love in the lives of children in Bogotá, Colombia. The first couple, Edgar and Laudice Garzón lead a foundation called Betsalem – house of peace. The second couple, Gregorio and Alicia Rojas started the “Niños con Futuro” or children with a future foundation. Both couples sow the seeds of love and material resources. The youth that receive these blessings are nourished physically and spiritually so that they have the tools to prosper as they grow up.
In this picture is one of the young men that arrived to Betsalem when he was twelve. David Alexander is now seventeen years of age. He is a great example of the fruit that is reaped when people sow seed! My husband and I have recently been learning about his goals and purpose. He is already studying to be a professional chef. I believe that the faith in God and the tools for living that he has received while living at Betsalem will continue to strengthen him through his life.
Sow seed and reap fruit! This is a real example of a teenager that has learned from the seeds of love and physical blessings. He is now a source of fruit that is producing life!
